Generosity is the virtue of being liberal in giving. The World Giving Index gives a unique insight into trends in generosity across the globe. The levels of generosity we see in countries is truly humbling, particularly when it shows huge support for others in countries which have suffered years of conflict, war or instability. That really demonstrates our shared human values shining through.
Generous countries are ranked according to how charitable they are. In order to ensure that giving is understood in its various forms, three aspects of giving behaviour are taken into account; helping a stranger, donating money to charity and volunteering in an organization. This provides answers to questions about where people are most likely to engage in pro-social activities and to champion the growth of growing giving.
Here are the top 20 most generous countries in the world.
