An adoption agency/society is an organization that facilitates child adoption by potential adoptive parents. Often these adoption societies will take up care of a child until adoption process starts, and will monitor the well-being of the child after adoption to ensure the child is in good hands. Thus, the major role of adoption agencies is that of oversight. A visit to an adoption society is often useful as most will guide one through the process of adoption. It is important to ensure that the adoption agency the applicant is dealing with is duly registered and holds a valid license issued by the National Adoption Committee.
