A comfort zone is a familiar psychological state where people are at ease and (perceive they are) in control of their environment, experiencing low levels of anxiety and stress. It’s a behavioral state where a person operates in an anxiety-neutral position. Where our uncertainty, scarcity and vulnerability are minimized – where we believe we’ll have access to enough love, food, talent, time, admiration. Where we feel we have some control. It’s really easy to just settle into a routine and believe that everything will fall into place.
However, what makes life more exciting and fulfilling is the fact that we can go above and beyond what we’re used to and what we’re comfortable with. Stepping across the threshold of our comfort zone marks the beginning of a more adventurous and satisfying life. By overcoming our fear and anxieties, as well as challenging ourselves to always do better than what we did today, we’ll see a whole different view of the life we’re living. And in the end, we’re sure to attain whatever it is that makes us happy, excited, and content.
