The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) is a Kenya government state corporation with a mandate to provide health insurance to Kenyans. The core business and mandate for NHIF is to provide accessible, affordable, sustainable and quality health insurance for all Kenyan citizens.
Here is how to check your NHIF account status.
1. Online
To check your NHIF status online, follow these steps.
- Go to NHIF SelfCare Portal.
- Sign in to the self-service online portal using your ID/passport number and an OTP code that will be sent to your phone.
- From the dashboard, select the “Status” menu, to view your contributions, arrears and penalties.
2. SMS
To check your NHIF status via SMS, follow these steps.
- Compose a new SMS.
- Type the letters “ID”, space, then your ID number (or passport number if applicable) e.g., ID 12345678.
- Send the text to 21101.
Note: You will be charged Ksh 10 for this service.
3. My NHIF app
Download My NHIF app from Google Play Store or App Store and log in to view your contribution status.
4. Email
You can also request your NHIF statement using the email customercare@nhif.or.ke.
