The KPLC E-bill service allows you to query your electricity account balance and bill due date any time, through SMS, e-mail or online. While using this service, it’s important that to note that, in order to get a positive response, you will need to key in the correct account number and follow the procedure outlined. Even with the introduction the E-bill services, KPLC will still continue to dispatch your detailed electricity bill through your postal address.
1. SMS
By using the E-bill SMS service you can check your electricity account balance and bill due date using your mobile phone. This service works for Kenyan networks. It is charged at Ksh 5 above the normal SMS rates. Follow these steps.
- Open a new SMS message
- Type the first part of your account number in the message field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877
- Send this message to 95551
- In a few seconds you will receive an automatic reply with your account balance details

To access a wide variety of KPLC pre-paid services, dial *977#.
3. E-mail
By using the E-bill e-mail service you can check your electricity account balance and bill due date via e-mail. Follow these steps.
- Open a new e-mail message
- Type the first part of your account number in the subject field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877
- Email the blank message to bill@kplc.co.ke
- Within a few minutes you will receive an automatic reply with your account balance details and payment due date
4. Online
You can also use the KPLC online portal to check your electricity account balance and bill due date.
- Access the KPLC self service portal
- Register or login in you already have an account
- Once logged in, you can be able to check your electricity account balance
- Alternatively, you can also download the KPLC Android App from Google Playstore and be able to check your electricity account balance conveniently from your mobile phone
