Nairobi County has moved to digitize its operations, including revenue collection. In a bid to curb corruption, motorists will be required to pay for parking using the ePayment system instead of the traditional cash method. With the this system, motorists can not only pay for parking, but also check their parking status, update daily parking fees and even switch to seasonal parking. Motorists can either pay their parking fees using the ePayment self service portal or USSD method.
a. Self service portal
Here is how to pay for parking in Nairobi County using the ePayment self service portal.
- Access the Nairobi ePayment self service portal.
- Proceed to log into your account, but if you don’t have an account, you will have to create one.
- Click on the “Parking fees”.
- From the options listed, select the type of parking you want, either “Daily parking” or “Seasonal parking”. (Note: For daily parking, an account is not required).
- From the drop-down list select the parking zone depending on your current location.
- From the list provided, select the type of vehicle.
- On the fields provided, enter your vehicle registration number and your phone number.
- Then click on “Proceed” button to complete your transaction.
- On your phone, an Mpesa payment popup will appear with the amount to pay.
- Enter your Mpesa PIN and tap “OK”.
- You will receive a message shortly confirming your payment.
b. USSD
Here is how to pay for parking in Nairobi County using the USSD method.
- Dial *235#
- Select the type of parking you want i.e. option 1 for “Daily parking” and option 2 for “Seasonal parking”.
- Enter your vehicle registration number.
- From the list provided, choose your parking zone.
- Select the type of vehicle, from the list.
- Note the paybill number, account number and parking fees.
- Proceed to pay using Mpesa.
- You will receive a message shortly confirming your payment.
