YouTube is a video-sharing website allows users to upload, view, comment and subscribe to other users. Since its establishment in 2005, YouTube has featured a ‘most viewed’ section, which lists the most-viewed videos on the site. Although the most-viewed videos were initially viral videos, they were increasingly related to music videos. Since Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance in 2009, every video that has reached the top of the most-viewed YouTube videos list has been a music video.
